‘Russia Claims VICTORY at Mariupol’s Azovstal Steel Works’

Russia claims to have taken control of the Azovstal steel plant, in what would be its biggest victory since the start of its war in Ukraine.

The Russian Defence Ministry says the steel works’ underground structures are now “fully liberated” and “under full control of Russian armed forces”.

A near-three month battle to conquer the strategic port city of Mariupol has reduced much of it to rubble, with over 20,000 civilians feared dead.
