Russia: Donbass evacuees arrive at accommodation point in Klin

Evacuees from Donbass, who arrived in the Moscow region on Tuesday morning, were transferred to one of the temporary accommodation centres in Klin.

The temporary accommodation center housed about 400 people, including women, children and the elderly.

Upon arrival, residents of Donetsk and Lugansk went through the registration procedure, after which they had lunch and checked into their rooms. According to the Governor of the Moscow region Andrey Vorobyov, the evacuees were provided with everything they needed.

The Governor noted that other municipalities near Moscow also provided accommodation for evacuees.

Earlier, the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, announced the evacuation of civilians to Russia to avoid their getting caught in the crossfire if fighting continues to break out.

About 61,000 Donbass residents arrived to Russia after the announcement of the evacuation, the Acting Head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry Alexander Chupriyan said on Monday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees on the recognition of the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk in the eastern Ukrainian territory of Donbass on Monday. Russia’s Federation Council ratified the treaties on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics at an extraordinary meeting in Moscow on Tuesday.
