Russia: Dozens queue for PCR tests in Krasnodar

Dozens of people with signs of acute respiratory virus infection (ARI) could be seen lining up outside medical clinics in Krasnodar, waiting to see a doctor and receive a PCR test.

According to Krasnodar resident Olga, yesterday she spent five hours queuing to see a physician, but today she received a PCR test after waiting for around an hour and a half.

“Actually, I came yesterday with an acute respiratory infection to get sick leave and treatment. And in the end it turned out that we were all standing there in such a crowd since eight am. And there were those who had a positive test for COVID. So you came here with an acute respiratory infection, but you left as COVID-positive,” she said.

Evgeny Filippov, Minister of Health of the Krasnodar Region, announced that the number of visits to the emergency medical service had increased to 7,000 per day.

The First Vice-Governor of the Krasnodar Region, Igor Galiya, has announced a temporary suspension of planned medical examinations and the redirection of medics to provide primary care on an outpatient basis.

According to the regional authorities, 2396 local cases of COVID-19 were detected in the Krasnodar region on February 1.

SOT, Olga, patient: “Actually, I came yesterday with an acute respiratory infection to get sick leave and treatment. And in the end it turned out that we were all standing there in such a crowd since eight am. And there were those who had a positive test for COVID. So you came here with an acute respiratory infection, but you left as COVID-positive”.

SOT, Olga, patient: “I stood for an hour and a half [for a PCR test today], but yesterday I spent almost six hours here, five and a half”.

Journalist: “And what were you standing there for yesterday?”

Olga: “I couldn’t get to the physician. I sat in the queue for five hours with a temperature of 38.3 Celsius”

SOT, Alexander, patient: “Yesterday I was here until eight o’clock in the evening to get to the doctor.”

Journalist: “How long were you here?”

Alexander: “I arrived at ten, signed up, then left, took my child to school, and unfortunately missed my turn. I signed up again. The second time I managed to get to the doctor.”
