Firefighters put out a fire at a plane crash site in the region of Irkutsk on Wednesday. According to authorities, all seven people on board were killed.
Regional Governor Igor Kobzev confirmed that Russians, Belarussians and Ukrainians were among the victims. He also shared the details of the incident.
“This plane has repeatedly used our landing strip. So probably, when it was approaching the first lap taking into account the difficult weather conditions, it asked for a second one. And when entering the second one, it crashed seven kilometres from the airport,” Kobzev explained.
According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) the plane disappeared from radars while preparing to land at around 19:45 local time (11:45 GMT). The plane, belonging to Belarusian airline Grodno, caught fire after crashing and the wreckage was later located in the settlement of Pivovarikha, near Irkutsk.
