Russia: Putin pays last respects to emergencies minister in Moscow

Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, and other high-ranking officials paid their last respects to late Evgeny Zinichev, Russia’s emergencies minister, in Moscow on Friday.

The final farewell ceremony was held at the Emergency Ministry’s National Crisis Management Centre. Zinichev’s funeral will take place later on Friday in St Petersburg, where he will be buried next to his parents.

The ministry announced on Wednesday that Zinichev had died in Norilsk in an accident while taking part in a drill. He was awarded the Hero of Russia title posthumously by President Putin on Thursday.
