A suspected suicide bomber has wounded Somalian government spokesperson Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu in an attack in Mogadishu on Sunday, according to state media. The official has been rushed to hospital.

Emergency services could be seen removing a body from the scene of the crime, while the remnants of blood could be seen sprayed on nearby buildings. The state-run Somali National News Agency said the explosion was detonated by a suicide bomber. According to the agency, the person was wearing a suicide belt.

It is not immediately clear which organisation, if any, was responsible for the blast.
