A briefing was held at St George’s Cathedral in Cape Town on Monday, during which the details of the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s funeral were announced.

“At 10AM (local time) on Saturday, New Year’s Day, the funeral will take place here. And it is here where his (Desmond Tutu’s) ashes will also be interred,” announced Thabo Cecil Makgoba, Archbishop of Cape Town.

“But expect announcements in the next day or two from other churches and institutions of state and non-governmental organisations about their events,” added Makgoba.

Desmond Tutu died at the age of 90. His passing was announced on Sunday by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The former Archbishop spent his life advocating for civil rights and speaking out against inequality, corruption, and oppression.
