A Spanish Armed Forces helicopter dropped flower petals over the cemetery of Las Manchas, affected by the volcanic eruption on the island of La Palma, in an All Saints’ Day commemoration on Monday.

The event intended to convey the affection of the citizens of the island, who have not been able to access the cemetery to visit their loved ones, since it is unreachable due to the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano.

The eruption began more than a month ago and has so far caused the destruction of more than 900 hectares of the island.

Around 7,000 residents are still evacuated from their homes, with further evacuations being a possibility in the future as the volcanic activity continues.
