Three poultry farms in Rafah were destroyed in an Israeli air raid as warplanes bombed targets in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, according to the owners of the facilities.

Footage shows the businessmen assessing the damage in the aftermath of the attack.

“The Israeli F-16 fighter jets bombed the [poultry] farm at 3 am. These farms are still under construction. We were farming poultry here four months ago until the Israeli F-16s destroyed it during the last war on Gaza, they bombed and destroyed three farms”, said Hasan Abu Jazar, one of poultry farm’s owners.

“Each farm had more than 2,000 chickens, which are our livelihood. Last week we began the maintenance works, but the farms were bombed by Israeli warplanes last night as you can see”, he added.

Israeli said its warplanes targeted a military headquarters for Hamas in response to a rocket launch on Saturday.

Tensions escalated following rallies in support of the six Palestinians who had escaped from a jail in Israel. Four of them have been arrested by security forces.

SOT, Talal Al-Shaer, Farm owner (Arabic): “Today, at 03:00 or 03:30 am, Israel bombed the farms with a rocket. Why did it strike? We don’t know. What was inside to be bombed? They are empty farms which we have constructed to earn our living. Now we don’t have a source of income, and only God knows about our situation.”
