‘Trump Slams Stimulus Package, Demanding $2,000 Payments to Americans’

Donald Trump described the $900 billion COVID relief fund passed in Congress ‘wasteful’ and a ‘disgrace’.

The outgoing president took to Twitter to make a statement on the bill, saying that it “has almost nothing to do with Covid”. The bill would provide a second round of stimulus cheques to Americans.

His announcement shocked Capitol Hill, where negotiations on the relief bill have been ongoing since July.

Trump has been largely absent from the talks, but cited foreign aid and arts funding as one of the reasons he may veto the bill.
