The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis Cressida Dick acknowledges the impact the murder of Sarah Everard by police office Wayne Couzens has had on the metropolitan police after Couzens was sentenced to life in prison for the crime.
“Speaking frankly, as an organisation, we have been rocked,” said Dick, who also stated that Couzens “had brought shame on the Met.”
Couzens kidnapped, raped and killed Sarah Everard in March 2021, a 33 year old marketing executive when she was walking alone from a friends’ house in South London.
The murder rocked the UK sparking numerous nationwide protests against violence towards women.
