Hundreds of protesters marched from Parliament Square to Trafalgar Square via Downing Street in central London on Saturday voicing their opposition to the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill.
The protesters were addressed by an array of speakers from different pro-democracy organisations, including Labour party life-peer Baroness Shami Chakrabarti.
“This odious Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill is rotten in so many ways, but in particular, it is capable of criminalising nearly all non-violent street protests,” Chakrabarti told the demonstrators.
The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill would see protests being placed under certain conditions according to law enforcement.
UK Home Secretary Priti Patel was the main focus of protesters ire as one of the bill’s chief proponent.
The bill has been the focal point of dozens of protests up and down the United Kingdom.
