Brits gathered outside Buckingham Palace in London wished Queen Elizabeth II well after the announcement the 95-year-old monarch had tested positive for COVID-19.
“I hope that she gets through it alright because I wouldn’t like to see anything happen to her,” said one man.
Another well-wisher said the news was “a real shame”, but said he was quite confident she could weather the virus as she is fully vaccinated.
However, many remained worried due to the Queen’s age. “I hope she pulls through it because she looks quite frail these days,” said another person.
Buckingham Palace announced the Queen has contracted the coronavirus on Sunday, saying she was experiencing “mild cold-like symptoms,” but expected to perform “light duties” this week.
