UK: Police surround former homes of suspected suicide bomber as terrorism investigation continues

Local police were present at the former homes of suspected suicide bomber Emad Al Swealmeen, on Rutland Avenue and Sutcliffe Street, Liverpool, amid an ongoing terrorism investigation.
The streets appeared sealed off with police tape, with officers guarding its entry points and surrounding Al Swealmeen’s former residences.
Lights could be seen switched on in several homes, with local news reporting that neighbours had been allowed to return to the active crime scene, after earlier being evacuated.
On Sunday, a taxi carrying Al Swealmeen arrived outside Liverpool Women’s Hospital and exploded shortly after, at around 11:00 GMT (local time; 10:00 CET). Al Swealmeen died at the scene, whilst the taxi driver managed to escape.
It is believed that Al Swealmeen had been carrying a homemade explosive device, which was detonated whilst in the taxi.
On Monday, police announced that four men had been arrested in connection with the incident, and that significant items had been found at both of Al Swealmeen’s former addresses.
The event has been declared a terrorist incident and counter terrorism police are continuing their investigation.
