Ukraine: President Zelenskiy says war with Russia is possible

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that there is a possibility of a full-scale war with Russia, speaking on Friday at the annual Yalta European Strategy forum in Kiev.

“If there is an escalation, a powerful escalation by Russia,” Zelensky said when asked about the probability.

“This is the worst thing that I as a person, as a citizen, as a Ukrainian, can imagine, but unfortunately, there is such a possibility,” he added.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov responded by saying that Moscow took the Ukrainian leader’s words “with regret.”

“We would not like to indulge in some apocalyptic expectations,” Peskov commented.
