A number of foreign embassies in Kiev issued safety warnings over the potential of a Russian invasion on Saturday.

According to the latest guidance published by the UK’s government on Saturday, British nationals have been instructed to “leave now while commercial means are still available” amid an increased “threat of military action” on Ukraine’s borders with Russia.

Similarly, the US Department of State also published an updated travel advisory guidance on Saturday, classifying Ukraine in their ‘Level 4: Do Not Travel’ category. The advisory warns of “increased threats of military action and COVID-19” and urges US nationals to “depart immediately via commercial or private means.”

From Sunday, US authorities have announced the planned suspension of consular services in their Kiev-based embassy.

The embassies of Norway and Finland have also issued guidance alerting their respective citizens to leave the country this week.
