Ukrainian forces have entered Kherson for the first time in months, after the Russian military withdrew from the city.

President Volodymyr Zelensky called it “an historic day” as celebrations broke out across Ukraine.

Significant parts of Kherson have been left in ruins following the Russian occupation.

It’s been nine months since Vladimir Putin ordered a large-scale invasion of Ukraine.
