The Croatian State Hydrometeorological Institute has issued yellow thunderstorm warnings for the Rijeka region and yellow high wind warnings for most coastal waters, as well as the following weather warnings for the entire country

Thunderstorms, heavy precipitation and strong winds are forecast for most of Croatia. Storms can be accompanied by heavy downpours, strong wind gusts, lightning and possible hail. The most severe weather is forecast in the northeastern regions, with total rainfall of more than 5 cm (2 inches) in the Gospić and Rijeka regions

Storms may bring heavy rainfall, strong winds and isolated thunderstorms in affected areas. Sustained heavy rainfall can cause flooding in low-lying communities near rivers, creeks and streams. Urban flooding is also possible in developed areas with storm sewer systems that easily overflow. Places located downstream of large reservoirs or rivers can be subject to flash flooding after relatively short periods of heavy rainfall. Landslides are possible in hilly or mountainous areas, especially where the soil is saturated with heavy rainfall.
