USA: 1 shot dead in Portland ahead of rally against police violence

One person has been killed and at least 3 were injured during a shooting in Portland, Oregon, on Saturday, ahead of a planned protest against police violence.

Police vehicles and tape could be seen at the site of the shooting near Normandale Park.

The incident took place at 20:00 local time (04:00, Sunday GMT). A protest over the death of Amir Locke had been planned at the park with a meeting time 19:00 local time (03:00, Sunday GMT) and a march time of 20:00.

According to local officials, two people remain in custody.

The investigation is still ongoing.
