USA: Cosplayers 'excited' to attend San Diego Comic-Con Special Edition

Thousands attended the 2021 edition of San Diego Comic-Con International (CDCC) on Friday after the event was held virtually in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am really happy to get back into the experience. It’s very special with me and my mum and kind of a tradition,” said one cosplayer, Spencer.

Laura, another attendee, said she had missed the real-world events where cosplayers can interact with like-minded people.

“It’s not the same [online]. It’s a little overstimulating, lots of people and lots of things to look at,” said Laura.

Dubbed a ‘Special Edition’ of Comic-Con, the convention takes place on the weekend with a reduced capacity of visitors due to COVID-19 restrictions. The event should have been held in July this year, however, it was postponed due to the pandemic.

The event will last from November 26 to November 28.
