Hundreds of personnel were deployed in the aftermath of the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon as part of the ‘Noble Eagle’ operation, as shown in the archive video shot in the headquarters building of the US Department of Defense in Arlington, Virginia on September 14, 2001.
Footage shows the destruction inside and outside the Western wing hit by the hijacked plane, including the exact place of the deliberate plane crash.
Officers could be seen using various types of machinery to clear the debris.
The 64 people aboard the American Airlines Flight 77 and 125 people inside the building died after the Al-Qaeda militants crashed the plane into the building.
The 9/11 terrorist attacks killed 2,977 people and injured thousands at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
