Dozens of people attended a rally where Indigenous people and climate activists demonstrated in front of the White House in Washington DC, Tuesday.
“We’re here to stand up for our rights, because this is our right to be here and to be able to voice our opinion and hopefully president Biden will listen to us. He is supposed to be here to defend all the people of the United States, but he is overlooking the American Indians right here in his own front yard,” said Raymond Kingfisher, native American from Cheyenne Tribe.
Among other demands, protesters want to stop pipeline construction through indigenous lands, ban fossil fuels and want president Biden to declare a ‘climate emergency.’

SOT, Ellen Barfiled, Activist with Beyond Extreme Energy: “We demand shutting down fossil fuels as early as possible, transitioning the workers who don’t deserve to be discombobulated, they need to be retrained and get new jobs. The owners have plenty of money in fact too much, they should be fined for the lying to us for the past decades, but fossil fuel have got to go.”
