Climate activists are holding demonstrations outside the headquarters of CDU and SPD parties in Berlin on Tuesday, August 17.

The event named ‘August Rise Up’ is aimed at pushing the German government into acting on climate change.
The rally comes days after the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concluded that in ‘all the assessed scenarios, global warming would reach or exceed 1.5 degrees Celsius (34.7 degrees Fahrenheit) in the coming two decades’.
The temperature increase marks a threshold beyond which more severe and frequent cyclones, droughts, floods, and fires are likely to occur.
