Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held talks with former US Secretary of State and National Security Adviser Henry Kissinger, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, in New York City, Thursday.
During the talks with the Saudi foreign minister, Lavrov noted the convenience of holding discussions in the format of quick meetings, but stressed that it “can not substitute normal negotiations with good lunch and dinner.”
For his part, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud assured that politicians “will have time for that in a not-so-distant future.”
Earlier Sergei Lavrov arrived in New York City to participate in the UN General Assembly. According to Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, Russian ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov, and Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya met Lavrov on the runway.
The Russian foreign minister already managed to meet with a number of world politicians, including NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad, British Foreign Minister Elizabeth Truss, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on the UN General Assembly sidelines.
