Judge Bruce Schroeder, who is overseeing the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, announced he has banned MSNBC journalists from entering the Kenosha County Courthouse, in comments in court on Thursday, after a reporter allegedly followed the bus transporting the jury.

According to Schroeder, a person identifying himself as MSNBC reporter James J Morrison, under the supervision of producer Irene Byon, was stopped by police on Wednesday evening.

“The police, when they stopped him, because he was following at a distance of about a block and went through a red light,” said the judge, adding he “stated that he had been instructed by Ms Byon in New York to follow the jury bus.”

Schroeder added, “he’s not here today from what I’m told, and I have instructed that no-one from MSNBC News will be permitted into this building for the duration of this trial.”

The jury is currently deliberating ahead of a verdict in the case. Rittenhouse faces homicide charges after he shot and killed two protesters and injured a third during a demonstration in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in 2020. He was 17 years old at the time. The defence in the case has argued Rittenhouse acted in self-defence.
