USA: Petrol station in Queens collapses after Hurricane Ida hits New York

Emergency workers were assessing damage left by Hurricane Ida, after the severe weather caused a petrol station in Queens to collapse. 24 people died as a result of the flooding brought by the storm.
Heavy rains prompted the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue the first-ever flash flood emergency warning for New York City. The NWS recorded 80mm (3.15 inches) of rain in one hour in downtown NYC.
Mayor Bill de Blasio declared the state of emergency shortly before midnight, saying the city was ‘enduring a historic weather event’ with ‘record-breaking rain’ and ‘brutal flooding.’
