The leader of the far-right Proud Boys group Enrique Tarrio was released from prison on Friday morning after serving a four-month sentence in Washington DC for lighting a Black Lives Matter banner on fire at an African American church.

The current leader of the Proud Boys told reporters that he might take a step away from leadership.

“So I want to fix some of the things that are going on down there in South Florida. I might take a step away from leadership, right now from the Proud Boy’s organisation and focus on one, number one my God, my family, and then my club and my friends,” confirmed Tarrio.

Tarrio was indicted in January for possession of large-caliber magazines, which are illegal in Washington DC.

At least 37 members of the Proud Boys have been arrested and several have been charged with conspiracy.
