Huge swathes of America’s western states are ablaze as growing wildfires ravage the region.

The flames were ignited by lightning weeks ago but now cover an area over 32 square miles.

Critically dangerous wildfire weather looms, with the dry terrain providing the fire with fuel.

Evacuation orders are in place across the Sierra Nevada as the blaze drew closer to communities.

Several structures have already been destroyed, however no deaths have so far been reported.
