Woman takes in baby porcupine whose mother died in car accident

Paulina was found by the side of the road in May of 2020. She was next to her mother’s body. Her mother had been hit by a car in central Vermont. She was brought to me, by the person who found her. And we got her stabilized, started feeding her.

She’s hungry. I’m not going to get too close to that tail. She’s absolutely full of spikes. I named her after the supermodel, Paulina Porizkova. This is Paulina Porcupina. She didn’t stay on for formula for very long. She started eating solid food. 

Hi, Paulina.

She was moved to in big outdoor enclosure so she could get used to climbing and the outside temperatures and all the animals that she’s going to see out there. And in September of 2020, I released her into the wild. 

Bye, Paulina.

She was released deep, deep into the forest. She’s free to go wherever she wants to go.
