Zimbabwe: Cyclone Ana hits Nyanga district, destroying homes, bridges and power lines

Tropical depression dubbed Cyclone Ana hit several parts of Zimbabwe, bringing heavy rains and strong winds which destroyed roads, bridges and houses, as seen on Saturday in Nyanga district, Manicaland province.

Images captured by drone show heavy flooding in the region and the trail of destruction left behind by torrential rains and powerful winds; collapsed power lines, damaged houses and destroyed roads.

The bridge linking more than 10,000 locals to the Mbire District Hospital was swept away, cutting access to the community.

Hundreds of thousands of people across Southern Africa have been affected by the storm, leaving residents without power over recent days.

According to the European Commission humanitarian agency, over 80 people died in the region.
