1965-66 Television Season 50th Anniversary Tribute: The Farmer's Daughter

Fifty years ago today, April 22, 1966, the final episode of The Farmer's Daughter aired on ABC television. Debuting on September 20, 1963, The Farmer's Daughter ran for three seasons. Unlike many of the stories we find here at Television Vanguard, this one is a sad one - it ended in the death of a truly lovely, captivating young woman, young actress, far, far too soon. Inger Stevens was a fine actress and striking looking woman - in that era, or any era, she simply had a remarkable serene beauty, both inside and out. The words heavenly and angelic are not words often used to describe someone, but they could apply to Inger Stevens. Her untimely death was such a sad event, heartbreaking, that years, decades, later, her death still leaves a great sense of sadness. However, better to remember her here with high regard and esteem and know that she is resting in peace now, in hopefully a better place. Inger was born on October 18, 1934, and passed away on April 30, 1970, at the young age of 35. As this ET/Mary Hart File report (from February 16, 1990), she did countless movies (Hang 'Em High, 5 Card Stud, A Guide for the Married Man, The New Interns, The Buccaneer), stage, and television (The Farmer's Daughter and guest roles on Bonanza, Checkmate, Hong Kong, Adventures in Paradise, Route 66). We remember her here at Television Vanguard with great admiration and respect and pray she found peace... may she rest in peace.
