Ann Arbor Summer '70

Documentary of the Free Summer Park Concerts and the Ann Arbor Blues and Jazz Festival during the summer and fall of 1970. The film was paid for by a grant from the City of Ann Arbor to advertise their success in building good relationships with student activists and demonstrators by utilizing city parks for weekly free live rock concerts that alleviated some of the student stress being felt at major universities around the country. This film's history is the basis for the novel, "Sometimes...I Don't Remember Much of the '70s," (August 2019) written by Dr. Norman P. Johnson. The book partially fictionalizes the rise of Ann Arbor Rock & Roll politics, sexual revolutions, drug smuggling, and anti-war protests at liberating universities of the early '70s.
