Betty demonstrates how to make Macaroni and Cheese, Please! This is a great variation on Mac 'n Cheese that I plan to serve my family on Easter.
Macaroni and Cheese, Please!
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
½ teaspoon salt
dash of ground black pepper
¾ cup milk
1 ½ cups finely-shredded cheddar cheese
8 ounces sour cream
1 ½ cups uncooked macaroni, cooked and drained (1 used ½ teaspoon salt in the boiling water.)
dash of paprika for top
In a medium-sized saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons butter. Blend in 2 tablespoons flour, ½ teaspoon salt, and a dash of ground black pepper. Gradually stir in ¾ cup milk and 1 ½ cups finely shredded cheddar cheese. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and smooth. Stir in 8 ounces sour cream and cooked macaroni, made from 1 ½ cups uncooked macaroni. Heat mixture through, but do not boil. Pour into a nice serving bowl and sprinkle with a dash of paprika.
