Antes de desembocar sus aguas en la mar el rio corre mansamente formando una pequeña laguna que es la delicia de una bandada de garcetas níveas, también llamadas garza dedos dorados (Egretta thula), las que se dan un festín forrajeando pececillos y pequeños crustáceos, en tanto el luis bienteveo (Pitangus sulphuratus) las observa perchado en la rama de un arbusto de la rivera, por ahí se mira un cormorán (Phalacrocorax auritus) perdido entre tanta blancura.
