Throughout his very productive career, American composer Meredith Willson became known for Broadway successes like "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" and "The Music Man".
He also composed a couple of serious symphonies among other orchestral works. Willson's Symphony No. 2 "The Missions of California" (1940) was inspired by Fray Junipero Serra and the various missions established along El Camino Real. There are four movements:
I. Junipero Serra
II. San Juan Bautista
III. San Juan Capistrano
IV. El Camino Real
