On 27 Nov 2012 noon, 12 years old boy Jieon released a big helium balloon to sky from his grandmother's yard at Asan, Korea. The bicycle camera which was hang by umbrella parachute and balloon took 4 hours clear HD video to near edge of space. The camera was landed at Pyounghae ri Uljin, which is 212km away from Asan to East. Jieon Choi is a 12 years old elementary school boy who is very curious about sky. He saw a news that several MIT students shoot a helium balloon to stratosphere to take pictures and thought that he could do the same thing. The one problem is the budget. So he saved his pocket money for 1 year and made $280. He draw a simple schematic and bought a used smart phone HTC nexus-one for $40 and very small, light bicycle HD camera RD-32 for $100. Then he made a observation box by using recycled styrofoam box to protect a camera, battery and phone for GPS tracking. Also he made a parachute by using a broken umbrella. He requested a big balloon from the National Weather Service and get one free for education purpose. His father support him 47l Helium gas. The balloon went up about 35km high and moved to East about 212km. The camera took a clear video of Korean peninsula, because the weather was clean and no clouds at the day. the balloon bursted about 2 hours later(14:00) and landed at Pyounghae-ri approximately 15:00. Jieon followed the GPS signal by using Life 360 app with his father. 5 hours later he arrived at Pyounghae-ri and searched 1 hour to find the observation box and found it. The box was in good condition and didn't break at all. Jieon was lucky to find the box because the box landed at construction site, near seashore and mountains. If the box was fallen to sea, he couldn't find it. Jieon said that "I thought that it can succeed. However when I saw the box was back in safe and the camera took great video from space, I couldn't believe my eyes. I hardly slept that day."
