"A whole life soaking wet" - Torrential rains leave streets waterlogged and cause damage in Lepe

Residents of the Andalusian town of Lepe in Huelva captured images of the town’s streets on Wednesday after torrential rains kept the province on orange alert according to official data from the State Meteorological Agency of Spain (AEMET).

Water gushed through the air from the sewers and on the streets vehicles remained covered up to their tyres during the flooding of around half a metre in height.

One resident made her way through the flooded corridors of her home, showing the waterlogged interiors.

“The bathroom, the hallway, the living room, everything,” said the resident as she filmed the footage.

In the aftermath of the flood, local residents filled the streets with damaged items drying outside their homes as they organised clean-up efforts. Mattresses, furniture, televisions and other belongings lay in the sun on the streets, spoiled by the flooding and the storm.
