The second-largest key border crossing between Afghanistan and Pakistan in Chaman remained shut on Sunday, leaving thousands of Afghans who were trying to flee the country stranded at the border.
Footage recorded on the Afghan side of the border shows crowds of people waiting for their entry or more information on how to cross.
Earlier this week, Pakistan’s Interior
Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed announced a temporary closure of the borders due
to security concerns.
The Charman border crossing is just one of many crossings between the two countries that have been closed during and after the Taliban
takeover in Afghanistan. No re-opening date has yet been announced.
