As evacuation efforts continue at Kabul’s airport, large crowds of Afghans attempting to leave the country were seen waiting outside the roundabout leading to the main entrance on Wednesday.
Thousands of men, women and children have been trying to flee Afghanistan since the capital fell to the Taliban on August 15, and now a race has started to keep the imposed deadline set by US President Joe Biden on August 31.
Essa Behzad, a local trying to flee, said, “every time there is danger of death. We are obligated, there is no other way, there is no work or jobs.”
