Afghan National Defense and Security forces (ANDSF) recaptured the key district of Kaldar in the province of Balkh from the Taliban on Monday. The military operations were still ongoing amid the destruction left behind by the Taliban in Kaldar on Wednesday.

Taliban had conquered major parts of the province of Balkh, including the district of Kaldar a month ago.

The fighting between the Afghan forces and the Taliban has intensified after a cease-fire in Doha, Qatar could not be reached in the midst of the withdrawal of the NATO forces from the country after 20 years of military presence on the ground.

The instability within Afghanistan remains a factor of uncertainty for the international community, as the growing areas under the control of the Taliban pose serious security issues to the Afghan military.

From the day that Taliban made a comeback here as you see they destroyed homes, they exploded people houses, they pretended to cooperate with the Afghan government and people, they have beaten and been cruel to the people.”
