Former Uruguayan President Jose ‘Pepe’ Mujica appeared to have fallen asleep in the middle of a speech by Argentine President Alberto Fernandez during an event to commemorate Democracy and Human Rights Day in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Friday.

Footage shows the Argentinian president thanking Mujica for his presence, who looks apparently asleep until Vice-President Cristina Fernandez gives him a light tap with her forearm, after which Mujica reacts and nods his head.

Jose Mujica, 86, was president of Uruguay between 2010 and 2015. He is a well-known political figure on the leftist scene in Latin America.
