Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid met Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in Manama on Thursday, marking a “historic moment” following the opening of an embassy in the capital city.

Lapid spoke after another landmark event had occurred earlier in the day with the first commercial flight from Bahrain landing at Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv.

“This is a historical moment and a reminder that history is made by the people who know history, people who love and respect history but also are ready to change and make history,” said Lapid.
Both moves are steps forward in the normalisation process between the two countries following last year’s Abraham Accords.

The meeting with the King came after Lapid met with Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Prime Minister and Crown Prince of Bahrain.

We are living in a global reality, whoever isolates will disappear, whoever cooperates will lead the world and lead peace.
