Belarus: Mechanised units of Russia and Belarus conduct joint drills in Brest region

Motorized rifle units of the Russian Eastern Military District together with units of special operations forces of Belarus undertook military drills at the Brest training ground. This was reported by the Russian Defence Ministry on Friday.

The operation took place as part of the joint Belarus-Russia Allied Resolve 2022 military drills.

“In the course of the tactical episode, the Russian servicemen marched on standard equipment to the specified area, carried out tasks to block an illegal armed formation and destroyed it in cooperation with the Belarusian paratroopers,” the ministry said.

According to the information of the Defense Ministry, the exercises involved control methods and different kinds of support of the mechanised infantry units. The training included refueling combat vehicles and repairing a conditionally disabled BMP-2 in the field.

Russia’s Defence Ministry said the drills, which last until February 20, are being carried out “to work out the tasks of suppressing and repelling external aggression while conducting a defensive operation, countering terrorism, and protecting the interests of the Union State.”
