Belarus: Russian military arrive in Belarus for Union State Response Forces test

The first units of Russian troops from the Eastern Military District have arrived in Belarus to take part in the inspection of the Union State response force, on Wednesday.

According to the Russian Defence Ministry’s press service, the soldiers went on combined march with standard equipment and weapons to unfamiliar training grounds, where training tasks were performed.

The exercise to test the Union State’s response forces will be held in two stages in Belarus.

The first part will involve the redeployment and establishment of groupings of troops, as well as the defence organisation of important state and military facilities, the airspace border, and testing of air defence units on combat duty and other activities.

The second part will include a joint exercise ‘Union Resolve 2022,’ where forces will practice deterring external aggression, counter terrorism and protecting the Union State interests.

The press service of the ministry stressed that the number of military personnel and equipment involved in the exercise does not exceed the parameters specified in the Vienna Document 2011, so there was not a subject for notification.
