NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said it was a “dangerous moment for European security” in light of recent tensions between Russia and Ukraine in a press conference with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in Brussels, on Thursday.

In spite of mentioning tensions, Stoltenberg also said NATO was committed to finding a diplomatic route forward, stating, “we are prepared to listen to Russia’s concerns and ready to discuss ways to uphold and strengthen the fundamental principles of European security that have that we all have signed up to.”

Johnson echoed Stoltenberg’s sentiment, whilst confirming that the United Kingdom would provide NATO with, “troops, planes and ships.”

The meeting comes amid a build-up of Russian armed forces at the border with Ukraine. Moscow have said their actions are in response to security concerns and have demanded a ban on Ukraine entering NATO and a halt of NATO operations in several countries on Russia’s border.
