Thousands of health workers, backed by the Centrale Nationale Des Employes (CNE) trade union, marched through Brussels on Tuesday.

The trade unionists marched in opposition to the government’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate and in demand of improved working conditions.

According to current government plans, unvaccinated health workers will be given a three-month window to get vaccinated against COVID-19 from January 1.

Unless negative tests are shared with the employer on a regular basis or a proof of recovery from COVID-19 is provided, unvaccinated health workers may be suspended from work for non-compliance.

Latest COVID-19 vaccination figures from Belgium, compiled on Sunday, show that 74.90 percent of the country has been fully vaccinated.
