Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a sweeping mandate for all private businesses starting December 27, in NYC on Monday.

The mandate will mean all employees will need to be vaccinated, starting December 27. “This is how we put health and safety first. By ensuring that there is a vaccine mandate that reaches everyone in the private sector universally,” de Blasio said.

NYC has already put mandates in place for city workers, entertainment, gyms and indoor dining. Almost 90 percent of adults in NYC have at least one dose of a COVID vaccine.

De Blasio also announced restrictions affecting children. Starting from December the Key 2 NYC programme which is in place in entertainment, gyms and indoor dining will also include children aged 5-11.
