Belgium: Stoltenberg confirms NATO member ministers endorse €1 billion defence innovation fund

NATO secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed a large defence innovation fund was agreed upon by the defence ministers from 17 allied countries during a press conference in Brussels on Friday.
“Today, Allies also signed an agreement to establish a NATO Innovation Fund. I expect this fund to invest 1 billion euros ($1.16 billion) with innovators across the Alliance working on emerging and disruptive technologies,” confirmed Stoltenberg during the presser.
During the press conference, Stoltenberg went on to praise the improvement in transatlantic relations and recent attitudes towards NATO.
“Our transatlantic alliance remains the bedrock for our security. And Europe and North America will continue to stand strong together in NATO, as we face a more competitive world,” stated Stoltenberg.
