‘BOOM! Controlled Demolition That Took Months to Plan Brings Down Power Plant’

A decommissioned power plant in northern Germany was demolished on Sunday.

A total of 420 kilograms of explosives were used to bring down the 83-year-old structure.

The 110-meter-high cooling tower, the 250-meter chimney and the boiler house with at nearly 70 meters from the ground, were levelled.

The entire site in Luenen was cordoned off and people living nearby were brought to safety.

Preparations for the demolition began in December due to its complex nature.
