Croatia: Queues form for COVID jabs in Zagreb as vaccine tourism ramps up

A line had formed outside a vaccination centre in Zagreb on Thursday as tourists lined up to receive their COVID jab in Croatia.

Hannah, a tourist from Australia said, “Once we found out about Croatia offering to tourists, we came here so we were able to travel. We have been really lucky, it is so nice to have that offered and it is really well-organised as well, it is a very smooth process.”

Croatia is offering vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) including Moderna and Pfizer to everyone even to foreigners, free of charge.

SOT, Ryan, Tourist: “I am doing some international travel here. I am visiting friends and have a business here so I decided to come here over New Years at the same time and you offered the vaccine so this also helped make the decision to come.”

SOT, Hannah, Tourist: “We were actually at Asia at the time and we did not have Pfizer and Moderna available, there was only Sinopharm where we were staying. Once we found out about Croatia offering to tourists and stuff we came here so we were able to travel. We have been really lucky it is so nice to have that offered and it is really well organised as well, it is a very smooth process.”
